Bumetanide is a potent loop diuretic that inhibits the Na?/K?/2Cl? symporter in the thick ascending limb of the loop of Henle. It is used in research involving fluid and electrolyte balance, kidney function, hypertension, and heart failure models.

Mechanism of Action & Research Applications
Bumetanide selectively inhibits the Na?-K?-2Cl? cotransporter (NKCC2) in the loop of Henle, leading to significant diuresis and natriuresis. In laboratory settings, it is often used to model fluid retention disorders, renal dysfunction, loop diuretic response, and electrolyte imbalances.
