Mechanism of Action
Capecitabine is a tumor-selective prodrug of 5?fluorouracil (5-FU). Once ingested, it is converted to 5-FU in tumors by thymidine phosphorylase, disrupting DNA synthesis via thymidylate synthase inhibition and blocking RNA function .
